At Fat’s Asia Bistro and Dim Sum Bar on Eureka Road, dim sum is not just an appetizer. Family-style portions of chicken pot stickers, pork shu mei (steamed pork-filled dumplings), chicken in lettuce cups and chilled shakka roll’s (spicy tuna, beef loin in a soy wrap) are a meal on their own. For traditional entrée’s, Fat’s has full-size favorites such as, fried catfish; honey roasted Peking duck, steak Kew with asparagus (work-fired filet mignon) and Fat’s almond chicken. The Roseville restaurant—of this Sacramento chain—is spacious and friendly with well-versed servers, busser’s dresser in traditional Chinese costume and staff happy to talk to you about the menu. The décor is breezy with lots of wood, wicker, palm trees and Buddha statues. If wary of eating with chopsticks—forks will be provided. Cindy Arora |
