Buckhorn Grill1801 L St. City: Sacramento Price Range: Inexpensive Cuisine: American Special Features: Dog Friendly, Good for Groups, Kids' Menu, Lunch, Outdoor Dining, Take-Out The latest chain to hit the midtown restaurant row on L Street melds casual counter-style service with an upscale disposition. The dining room is spaciously laid-out and extends onto the sidewalk where an outdoor patio will allow you to people-watch while devouring a roadhouse salad (mixed greens, shoestring fried onions and topped with crumbled bleu cheese.) The Buckhorn Grill serves chicken and fish, but its heart belongs to marinated sirloin tri-tip. It can be added to salads, sandwiches ordered on the side and served on its own as a Buckhorn platter that comes with veggies and red mashed potatoes. Most of the foods are seasoned and marinated with a chipotle sauce, lemon and garlic marinade and bayou pepper. The food is hearty, big and slightly intimidating if you don’t have a voracious appetite. Warning: Be prepared to take food home or at the very least fall into a small food coma. Cindy Arora |
